The main objective of the council is to support the Egyptian chemicals exporters and manufacturers to increase their competitiveness in world markets and to boost their exporting awareness; this is done through providing – doing strategies, plans and studies with the aim of increasing the Egyptian chemicals exports.

CEC has over the years grown its functions and offerings to cater to the varying needs of the Egyptian Chemical Industry. Our total export in 2008 only for the above mention sectors was more than 5.5 billion dollars for about 156 countries, these exports done by 1783 companies.
The CEC was formed to broadly serve the following objectives:
01. To Create greater export awareness to all CEC members
02. To anticipate and respond to government policy
03. To provide better service to members in effective dissemination of information and monitoring the national and international chemical industry export trend scenarios
04. To develop capacity building for the members of the Council
05. To supervise and support collective specialized exhibitions at targeted countries and regional markets in Europe, Africa, Far East and America
06. To extend and maintain international liaison
07. To promote chemicals exports vigorously.
08. To work towards effective representation of all sectors of the chemical industry
09. To help ensure availability of trained manpower, quality standards and technology absorption
10. To promote and maintain good relations between members of CEC and the Government authorities
11. To encourage work studies, research, investigations & experiments with the aim of improving the manufacture of chemical products, cost reduction & enhanced productivity
12. To organize trade delegations and trade mession to foreign countries, disseminate trade & commercial information about various countries amongst its members and generally facilitate trade & exchange of know-how in chemicals & fertilizers.
13. To promote energy conservation measures in the industry
14. To promote Responsible Care initiative under the structured approach to self-regulations
